Panic Attacks 101

Having a panic attack is like drowning. At first you take in this big gulp of air, your lung are filled and strong. But at some point you have to let sime of that air out or else it starts to hurt. Then you realized that even though you let that air out you are surrounded by water that pushes against you, setting a weight on your chest hurting even more. At the second you think you can handle as your body struggles against the urge to let any water in, you open your mouth. Water floods your lungs. You forget what it feels like to breathe. All you know is pain, that it hurts no matter which way you throw your body or cough up the water. Right before you think you are going to die you break surface, sucking in all the oxygen you can take and expelling everything in your lungs. The pain is still there but less so. You choke and cough until slowly you are able to take that first full breath. That feeling is something so surreal that you’ll never forget. But youll wonder how you could ever forgot the feeling of breathing when it was always so simple.
